yikes. so much going on, so little time.
talk about mortality. my mother is sinking into alzheimers slowly but surely, and it's the old cliche (pick one): you don't know what you've got til it's gone. you never know what someone's going through til you walk a mile in their shoes. or whatever other tired cliche you want to dredge up.
i am adjusting to the whole idea but only gradually and with much drama. *sigh* and i SO don't want to be a drama queen. i just want to leave that to her. it's just so weird to have to go through all these changes, and it's so freaking common these days; everyone i know in their middle age, with parents alive, is dealing with it.
ok so here's the last cliche i'm going to spew today: getting old is not for sissies. but i am trying to remember that God put a smile on my face.

newsflash
what? you mean my life isn't all about me?
my ex-husband is getting remarried, i found out from my son today. the genius of the universe, who i really believed was actually too selfish to remarry, proved me wrong. (ha).
i also learned the 'J Ellis' profundity of gen-x (one my son belongs to). oh how witty we'd all like to be!
he thought he was being funny. i told him i actually am jealous that mr ex. and his fiancee are able to go shopping with him 3K miles away, while i live here getting spoiled by the local climate. hoo ha! who's j ellis now?
but i do feel bad for the kid, since it appears he's come down with a respiratory or otherwise malignancy that shall be named only tomorrow after the visit to the most-holy ... oops i mean the local g.p.
i tell you what. it's not fun being 51. well it's more fun than being 71 probably but not as much as 31. i'll tell you that. and since i'm babbling now and just getting morose, i'll leave you quietly in peace to ponder your own mortality.

first blog posting.
all i got on here for was to find ted kerasote's blog. i don't even care a whole lot about dogs but with me it's all or nothing. so i find myself owning them, thinking about them. what i like about my little dog is that she's cuddly. what i learned from merle's door, kerasote's book i just finished yesterday, is that the barkiness is a phenomenon that is not necessarily necessary. i wish i had the luxury of his life. i wish i had a doggy door.
